Background

Woodstock is known for its connection to the arts. It's most famously known as the town for which the 1969 music festival took its name from.

From Wikipeida: The Arts and Crafts Movement came to Woodstock around 1902, and, afterwards, Woodstock was always considered an active artist colony in the 19th and early 20th century, including playing host to numerous Hudson River School painters. Its reputation as an arts center contributed to the original Woodstock Festival's organizers planning their concert around the town. Such American painters as E. Charlton Fortune and Spencer Trask were known to use the Woodstock venue.

Vision for event

We endeavor to create a unique and compelling single-track, one-day event that brings together the best and brightest of the social media community. We are inspired by un-conference conferences like Gnomedex, Community Next and BlogHer for their ability to create multiple "ah-ha moments" that bring people together that have everything in common (or nothing at all.) Woodstock 2.0 builds upon the rich history that exists within the town of Woodstock and we are humbled by the great artists that have called Woodstock a home and used it for a source of inspiration. The internet-age has brought forth its own generation of artists who use the internet as their canvas and Woodstock's founding mothers and fathers welcome them with open arms (and strong WIFI.)

One room...no powerpoints just screen shots...no sales pitches....just fresh content. Read the blog post that started the ball rolling.

Connection to Woodstock Film Festival

Woodstock 2.0 Expo is an addendum to the already successful 8th Annual Woodstock Film Festival. The Woodstock Film Festival has a rich history of promoting independent film to a larger audience. Two major themes are: The convergence of Music and Film and The exposure of socially relevant issues using film as a medium. WFF also premieres an exhilarating variety of films by emerging and established filmmakers, and they leave room for some films that are just plain "fun."
